GALICIA ORNAMENTAL PLANT PRODUCERS EXHIBITION.

The celebration of the Galicia Ornamental Plants Exhibition, is the only event of these characteristics held in the peninsular North West. This show came up with the idea of providing professionals an annual and permanent meeting point in the Galician community. As well as establishing a direct link between producers and buyers, the Exhibition is also used as a storefront of a varied range of cultivations supplied by Galician producers: native species, traditional crop plants and exotic species.

EXHIBITION DEVELOPMENT.

The Exhibition was organized for the first time in October, 1999, in the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Galicia (in Santiago de Compostela) possessing the participation of twenty associates of ASPROGA.

The II Exhibition was carried out in September, month that would be established for the rest of the editions. This edition involved the consolidation of the Galician show, both among the ASPROGA´s associates and among all professionals of the sector, since they booked some days off in their diaries for the month of september in order to come to Galicia to buy plants.

The increase of exhibitors in the III Exhibition reached seven, together with a increase of the occupied surface. A novelty was included in this edition that was an open doors day in nurseries, so that buyers who visited the Exhibition in the former three days had a last day to see right there the producer plant.

Due to the constant increase, both in the number of exhibitors and the amount of  occupied meters, it was decided, for fourth and posterior editions, the change of the exhibition room, moving us to the Recinto Ferial de Amio (Santiago de Compostela) that offered us the space that we needed for the event


For fifth consecutive year ASPROGA organized the Galicia Ornamental Plant Producers Exhibition, that took place at the Recinto Ferial de Amio.In this fifth edition we highlight the enlargement of the species supply, owing to the fact that there were plant growers exhibiting who have recently register them with the Association and the participation of Galician producers who are not ASPROGA´s associates.


I GREEN ARCH

With this denomination we have decided to name what we expect to be the great ornamental plant fair of the Northern Spain and Portugal, since we have decided to expand the Galicia Ornamental Plants Producers Exhibition to the northern area which goes from the Basque Country to Oporto (Portugal) including Cantabria and Asturias, so this name disappears by acquiring the new one, I GREEN ARCH: VI Ornamental Plants Exhibition that will take place on the 2nd, 3 and 4 September, 2004, in Recinto Ferial de Amio (Santiago de Compostela).

This year, and for the first time, the Exhibition will show besides the Galician productions, those of the fish-ponds located in the atlantic arch. The exhibitors' list of this GREEN ARCH 2004 is:
